内容简介

      明嘉靖年间，中国封建历史上为独特的皇帝朱厚熜(陈宝国 饰)出现了。他二十多年避居西苑，练道修玄，却始终牢牢掌控着整个大明朝政治、财经、军事和民生大权。

     严嵩(倪大宏 饰)，明朝历史上一个二十年把持内阁的辅，明史将其定为奸臣之。他党羽密布，权倾朝野，但是却能在家产被抄没、儿子被砍头之后，仍然独保其身，直至寿终正寝。

     海瑞(黄志忠 饰)，数百年来民间广为传颂的清官典范，敢于挑战皇权、斥责皇帝、不惧牢狱和死亡的威胁，虽地位卑微，却敢向几千年的封建制度发出震古烁今的挑战。

      《大明王朝》全剧展现的是中国封建史上商业经济十分发达、手工业作坊经济十分发达、市井文化繁荣的时代，也是中国封建史上商业经济与农业经济的社会矛盾尖锐的时代。土地兼并使得大量的农民失去了赖以生存的基础，贪官横行使大明朝的统治濒临崩溃的边缘。全剧以“倒严”为主要线索，全面展现了这一时期的一幅幅历史画面——从朝廷到各官府惊心动魄的政治斗争，从官场到商场波谲云诡的尔虞我诈，忠勇的官兵和忠义的百姓风起云涌的抗倭之战；国与家命运的休戚与共，敌和友关系的错综变化，大情大我和小情小我的矛盾交织在这里折射出历史精神的伟大理想和人生命运的严酷现实。一批赫赫有名的历史人物：海瑞、嘉靖、严嵩、严世藩、徐阶、高拱、张居正、胡宗宪、戚继光、李时珍等，从历史如烟的迷雾中有血有肉地向我们清晰地走来。
